Meet Recap

The Imlay City Spartans boys took 6th place at the Caro Thumb Area Cross Country Invitational. Jake Swartz led the pack with a 17th place finish (17:49) and received a medal for the effort. Cole Broecker came in 33rd place with a time of 18:35, followed by Zak Kustowski (18:36) with a 35th place. Brandon Pries captured 38th place with a time of 18:44, and Breydon Andrez rounded out the scoring with a 19:01 (44). Avery Whitney finished with an 63rd place and a time of 19:34, while Colin Heeke finished his race at 67th place (19:47).
In the JV race, Nathan Nothelle medaled with 15th place (20:21) and Adam Dodge took 16th and a medal as well (20:21). Roy Gartley raced for 34th with a time of 22:20. Great job to our runners!!

Meet Recap

The Imlay City Girls Team raced for 3rd place at the Thumb Area Cross Country Invitational. Jessica Denver led the charge with a 6th place finish, receiving a medal and a time of 20:27. Carlee Forsyth was second in for the Spartans with a 10th place finish and a time of 20:49. She also was a medalist for her efforts. Sydney Kapushinski finished her race with a 21st place finish, a medal, and a time of 21:55. McKinzie Winget and Sarah Hubbard completed the team scoring for the day with 30 and 31st place (22:15, 22:22 respectively). Sarah Evans ran a 23:09 with a 45th place finish, and Emerson O’Brien stopped the clock at 24:45 (65).
In the JV race, Katana Valle-Sloane (7), Rita Lopiccolo (14) and Kelly Gartley (20) finished as medalists with the following respective times: 25:22, 26:25, and 27:33. Laura Pankey finished the race at 30th place with a time of 32:37.

Game Recap

The 8th grade girls basketball team played an amazing game last night taking down the Almont Raiders, 30-19. The girls started on a 8-0 run and never let that down. The girls came out with the will to win. This was their best defensive game yet this season. Leading scorer for the night was Jaya Forti with 9. Ana Lengemann with 8. Mary Lengemann with 5. Madison Hall and Natalie Douglas each put up 4.

The girls have their last game at home on Tuesday, October 24. Tip off at 6 pm. Hope to see everyone there.

Game Recap

The 7th grade Lady Spartans lost a heart breaker in Almont tonight, 20-17. The shots just weren’t falling and in the end Almont’s size was too much to overcome. Leading the scoring was Lily Lengemann with 7 points. Drew Wetzel had 3. Alyssa Evans, Jenna Denver, and Brooklyn Ross each had 2 points. Kendall Rosczczewski finished the scoring with 1 point. The Lady Spartans look to bounce back and end the season with a win on Tuesday at home against Armada.

Imlay City Varsity Volleyball was defeated by Armada in 3; 23-25, 15-25 and 19-25. Kendall SOmmer had 6 kills, Ali Harper had 5 kills, Sydney Riester had 3 solo blocks and 2 assist blocks, and Erika Vanderploeg ended with 18 assists.

The boys raced to 4th place at Goodells on Tuesday. Jake Swartz led the team with an 8th place finish (17:39). He is receiving All Area Honors for this finish. Cole Broecker raced to 16th place (18:08), Brandon Pries-20th place (18:14), Zak Kustowski finished 21st (18:15), and Breydon Andrez (24) 18:33. Cole, Brandon and Zak have also been named Honorable Mention for the BWAC. Good job!

In a close race, Imlay City was three points shy of 2nd place. Medalists for the meet included Jessica Denver (4th-20:37) and Carlee Forsyth (6th-21:07). These girls are All Area First Team. Game Recap

The Spartans continue firm on their quest to the District title. This time they played the Semifinal against Yale at New Haven and manage a great win. As the district goes on the team looks more solid and more confident. Bruce Bollini opened the score only 1:40 being played into the game with a great freekick. Omar Cardenas scored ten minutes later, Francisco Barragan set him up. Omar cardenas scored the following two goals at 15:50 and 14:22 left in the first half, Cesar Zepeda and Bruce Bollini made the assists. Jose Arreguin made the last goal in the first half with only 1:41 left in the clock assisted by Jonathan Hernandez.

In the second half Francisco Barragan scored the sixth goal at 15:31 left in the game assisted by Captain Bruce Bollini. The final goal was by Emmanuel Lopez with 14:00 left in the game assisted by Omar Cardenas.

Braulio torres 5 saves on goal.

The Spartans are now on an impressive 18-2-2 Overall.
They will play the District final at New Haven where they will face Lutheran North ranked #7 in the state.
The game will take place Friday night at 7pm. In New Haven High School.
